Celebrated Celtic folk and early music band The Chivalrous Crickets will trace the evolution of the ballad of Barbara Allen in narration and song, exploring the journey of Old World music through the Appalachians during the mass immigration of the Scots and Irish in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Chivalrous Crickets are joined by rising star violinist/Scottish fiddler Caitlin Hedge, ACRONYM Ensemble’s Kivie Cahn-Lipman (Baroque cello), and award-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Carla Sciaky, in this innovative folk/Baroque program weaving songs and tunes through a tapestry of styles to tell the tale of one of history’s most beloved ballads.
